Natural makeup with a little shimmer

Natural-looking makeup can still sparkle. Keep the placement small, the layers light and the rest of the look as simple as you like.

Keep the base where you need it

Start with your usual skincare and give it time to settle. Apply foundation only where you want coverage, then add a little concealer to the areas that still need it. Leave some skin visible instead of trying to make every area look identical.

If your base already has a luminous finish, you may need less additional highlight. Check your face in daylight before adding another layer.

Choose a shimmer that fits the palette

Pick one shade that works with your blush, lip color or usual neutral shadow. Champagne is a neutral starting point; Pink Champagne takes the look in a softer pink direction. Rose Gold adds more rosy warmth.

Use our five-shade guide to compare the colors. Choosing a shade is about the result you enjoy, rather than following a fixed rule about age or eye color.

Make one small placement

With a clean fingertip or silicone brush, press a tiny amount of pigment onto the center of the lid. Leave the crease and outer edge softer. Look straight ahead, then turn your face slightly to see the sparkle appear.

For the lightest effect, stop after the first layer. If you want more intensity, build only in the same small area. A thin gel base is optional; see the primer and gel guide before layering.

Finish with soft edges

Brush through the brows, add mascara if you wear it, and choose a lip color close to the mood of the look. You do not need to make every part of the face equally bright.

If the shimmer feels stronger than you intended, soften its outer boundary with a clean brush instead of covering the whole lid with more product. Keep the center of the placement intact.

  2. One soft matte shade, if you want definition.
  3. A small shimmer accent pressed onto the lid.
  4. Brows, lashes and lips to finish.
